Major dissemination activity achieved!
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new open-access review article: “Recent advances in treating age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy: Current therapies and emerging novel approaches” in GeroScience (published 12 October 2025).
This paper, authored by Réka Antal, Zoltán Benyó, Zoltán Zsolt Nagy, Illés Kovács, János Tibor Fekete, Balázs Győrffy, and Krisztián A. Kovács, offers a comprehensive overview of therapies for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), including:

A meta-analysis of key human clinical trials

Discussion of safety profiles and adverse events associated with intravitreal injections

Exploration of gene therapy and small-molecule inhibitors as promising next-generation alternatives

By critically assessing current standards and emerging innovations, the authors aim to chart a path toward less invasive, safer, and more efficient treatments for retinal neovascular diseases.
We congratulate all authors on this significant contribution to the ophthalmology community. You can read the full article here:
